UNION LAKE, MI – The University of Delaware defeated Oakland University 5-1 at Hoover Arena in Strongsville, OH to claim its first Murdoch Cup, awarded to the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions. Goaltender S.J. Broadt of Delaware was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player. Head Coach M.F. Schurman and his Blue Hens, the #3 seed and Regular Season Champions of the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League, ended the season with a 34-3-1 record. They had previously lost in the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship Game in 2001 to Penn State. Head Coach Jeremy Bachusz and Oakland, the #13 seed and Regular Season Champions of the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League, finished the season with a 25-16-2 record. The Golden Grizzlies were looking for their second ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship, having previously won it in 2007 over Penn State.

Positions 1-20 in the final ranking were based on the national tournament. Positions 21-25 were voted on by the coaches, as during the regular season.

The 2013 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted March 1-6 by Robert Morris University Illinois at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL.
